Alpha Sigma Alpha
Alpha Sigma Alpha (https://www.alphasigmaalpha.org/) creates and develops women of poise and purpose . We foster close friendships and relationships within the sorority and outside. ASA was founded at IUPUI on April 5th, 2008. Alpha Sigma Alpha’s vision is to elevate the influence of women in the world and make an impact. Our core values include balance, generosity, growth, integrity, learning, relationships, responsibility, and enjoyment. ALpha Sigma Alpha’s philanthropies include Special Olympics Indiana, Girls on the Run, and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation. Special Olympics Indiana is our largest philanthropy that we give back to. With this, we have a yearly event to raise money, along with the annual Polar Plunge. Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation is something we give back to in a much smaller way, and we give back to this foundation by allowing our sisters to dress-down at a chapter for a small $5 fee. Girls on the Run is an event held every year that our chapter sets up to make bracelets, do hair, or to help warm up the athletes running in the 5K. We love this event because it teaches women at such a young age that they can do anything they put their minds to. Empowering women is one of our main goals in Alpha Sigma Alpha

I joined Alpha Sigma Alpha for many different reasons. The main reason for me was that I really wanted some life-long friends. I honestly felt super left out when I saw my friends from high school making new relationships and joining FSL. I figured, what the heck! I went to one online information night when looking to join a sorority, and Alpha Sigma Alpha was the very first sorority that I had heard of, and ended the call right after. Right off the bat, the girls in Alpha SIgma Alpha looked like the most genuine and kind girls to walk this planet. I also had a connection with the Special Olympics philanthropy, as my brother was an athlete for them. I found this super close to home already and I felt comfortable enough to reach out and connect with them. I have not one regret since meeting and joining his group of young ladies, and I am so extremely honored to now be president.
